The Past

The past is a foreign country: they do things differently there.

My World Tuesday

My World is one where industry in the shape of engineering and cotton manufacture played a very important place in our lives and in our culture. Sadly the industries are no longer important but reminders are still with us.

Here at the Burrs Country Park is a reminder of our industrial past - machinery dating back to the 19th century.

The park is situated near to Bury centre on the site of now demolished mills - it houses a visitor centre and a canoe training centre.

My World Tuesday

In my world of England the Town Hall came to represent the power and prestige of a city - the bigger and more ornate the better.

Here is Manchester Town Hall in all the glory that the ratepayers could afford.

Most of these town halls in England will have been constructed at the height of the Empire - late 1800's early 1900's .

My World Tuesday - Manchester Parade

Welcome to My World Tuesday and the Manchester Parade that was held in the city on Sunday to celebrate what the city is ..

The parade " paraded " around the city centre in the afternoon and had all the usual floats and bands and seemed to be well received by the general public on what was a warm and sunny afternoon..

Look around !!!

What is this life, full of care,

We have no time to stand and stare?
