The Past

The past is a foreign country: they do things differently there.

Latin Quarter - Galway

Quaint, pretty, old - what more can you say about Galway's Latin Quarter even if there is a Dunnes in the background ...

A hectic and noisy place when the local students come out to play at the weekend.

Cliffs of Moher - Galway Bay

Another must on the tourist route - however when you're stood on the top of the cliffs with the other thousand tourists there is not actually a lot to see.

Better view to be had from a boat I would expect but not many boats about ..

Galway -- Dunguaire Castle

We went to Galway in Ireland sometime in 2006 - quite a while ago - however as we have not been out and about in the UK much this year I'm having to look out old photographs to put on my RAMBLER Blog.

This castle whose importance escapes me is on the tourist route .

Salthill

Not far from the city of Galway lies the pleasant little town of Salthill with hotels and bed and breakfast establishments and all the seaside amenities.

A pleasant walk along the sea front joins the two ..

ABC Wednesday - I for Ireland

I is for Ireland.

Here on the west coast not too far from Galway City.

This picture was taken from Dunguaire Castle and shows the nearby village and small bay.

Not far from here is the famous Burren with its barren limestone scenery.

Galway Bay

It looks calm here in Galway Bay, Ireland but the rain clouds are starting to form and soon it will rain.

Pleasant place is Galway .. even if it does rain !

ABC Wednesday - D for Dolmen

A Dolmen is a megalithic tomb found in Ireland that dates back to around 2000 BC.

This is the Poulnabrone Dolmen found on the Burren in the west of Ireland not far from Galway City.

The word Burren derives from boireann which means " rocky land " in Gaelic. It is basically a wild barren limestone plateau in northwest County Clare.

GALWAY

This is the Latin Quarter in Galway

At weekend you will find these streets crowded with students from the local university

Penguins - move your cursor and take them for a walk !!

Say it as it is ......

Shoot for the moon, even if you miss, you'll land amongst the stars.

Look around !!!

What is this life, full of care,

We have no time to stand and stare?
