Manchester SNOWDROP City
A symbol of hope and peace the Snowdrop was planted on the graves of soldiers killed in World War I
To mark the centenary of the war the National Trust planted 100,000 snowdrops around Manchester in 2014.
Today they are now blooming.
These were planted in and around the Manchester Art Gallery and are gathering quite a few sightseers.

Manchester
Our latest trip to Manchester saw us alight at Salford Central railway station - this route certainly avoided the crowds - perhaps being a weekend helped.
This is the area near to the station - Bridge Street.

St. Ann's Passage
St.Ann's Passage leading towards King Street which also has a Christmas market this year.
Many years ago - 40 plus - we bought a ring from Hancock & Son - I guess we would not be able to afford to shop there now.
Opposite Hancock was a cafe - long gone..

Fire Station
The old fire station in the middle of Manchester at a busy road junction near the Piccadilly rail station.
Plans to turn this into a hotel but the economic crisis seems to have put this on hold.

Manchester Central Library
The "Library" has been subject to renovation and upgrade for some time. St.Peter's Square is undergoing Metro work soon and we'll see the platforms moved as I understand it.
So it is all go down in this area of the city.
