Just back from two weeks in Spain and have missed my Blogging - there's two B's !!
This picture is taken in Budapest Hungary and shows the memorial to those killed in the 1956 Hungarian Rising whilst fighting against the communist regime and the Soviet invasion forces.
I remember this time well - hearing the radio news and seeing the pictures in the local newspaper - I was about 8 or 9 years old and did not really understand what was happening ..
Glad to be be back to ABC Wednesday ....... !!

Welcome back :) I have never heard of the war you are talking about, I will have to go educate myself. Great tribute, though, to those who died.
Thank you for bringing this back to mind....so long ago now, but amazing when it happened. I was only a toddler so have no memory of it, but learnt about it later.
What a nice tribute post for that day. I am sure it was a very sad time.

I was six at the time and can barely remember it, but we got quite a lot of refugees at the time and many that stayed on.
