The Past

The past is a foreign country: they do things differently there.

De-layered management

Another new phrase for me today - de-layered management - I learn something new every day.

In other words redundancy and job loss ..

Why not say it as it is ?

Monetize

Today for the first time I came across a word that was somewhat new to me - monetize.

A quick look in the dictionary tells me that this is a verb which means to convert into or express in the form of currency or when used as an adjective can mean adapt to the use of money.

From the 19th cent French monétiser or Latin moneta - money

It would now appear that the financial whizz kids have hijacked this word and it replaces the phrase make money from or something similar.

How the language changes ..

Who are they ? Your guess is as good as mine.

Manchester Parade

Last weekend we went into Manchester to view the Manchester Parade - an event we watched last year and to be quite honest this parade was not as good as 2010.

It lacked something and gave the impression of cheapness .

Salford - Ordsall Hall

You'll find Ordsall Hall in Salford not far from the Exchange Quay metro station.

With parts 820 years old this Tudor mansion has been in the past a farm, home, church hall and working men's club. The name of the hall first appeared in print in 1177.

For three hundred years it was the home of the Radclyffe family who moved in around 1335.

June is here ..

Well the 1st of June today but no sign of any summer weather ..

Dull and dry for a change - temperature only just reaching the early 60's Fahrenheit - no sign of any warm weather yet - we'll just have to keep our fingers crossed.

This weekend should be good weather - we are promised some sun and warmth . Promises are not always kept !!

.

Penguins - move your cursor and take them for a walk !!

Say it as it is ......

Shoot for the moon, even if you miss, you'll land amongst the stars.

Look around !!!

What is this life, full of care,

We have no time to stand and stare?
