Who's for sherry ?

As you can see this is the Domecq sherry warehouse in Jerez southern Spain.

It is possible to take a guided tour around the place - which is what we did - hence the photo.

Not far from the city of Galway lies the pleasant little town of Salthill with hotels and bed and breakfast establishments and all the seaside amenities.

A pleasant walk along the sea front joins the two ..

You'll find plenty at the old Manchester Docks which is now part of the Lowry Centre - a redeveloped area with shops, museums and apartment blocks.

Some years ago you would have found ocean going vessels berthed here ..

England awoke to cold snow this morning which has left the transport system in chaos. 

I'm not sure this palm is really happy in the snow - warm sunny climes preferred.

He does not seem bothered ..

Monochrome Monday - 2nd February

Cousin Willie 

A relative of my mother but other than that I have no information.

It's possible that he is the son of James Francis and I imagine that this photograph was taken around 1914/1915 and he would be aged about 18.

My grandfather and his brother James joined a Scots regiment in Glasgow on the outbreak of World War 1 ( so I'm led to believe - but family stories are not always true ). It would seem a strange thing for people of Welsh origin and living in England to do ! They would be in their late thirties and I assume William went along also ..
